I chose body image and children because often times when talking about issues in society, children are left out of the conversation. However, I believe that body image affects children more than any other group because they are the ones who are influence the most. Majority of the women who struggle with body image, stems from their adolescence years.Things such as television shows, and social bonds are key components in the way children view themselves. If society work hard to help to promote equality for all shapes and sizes, than it can restore the confidence of the children. |

I chose women and the diverse ideals of beauty from around the world, because no matter where you live there is always a standard that needs to be met by the women in that society. Although the ideals between different cultures change, the basic concept does not. Women are not good enough the way they are naturally. Whether the ideal beauty is thin or fat, women still have to alter themselves to fit within the norm. |

The ideal beauty in the American culture is to be thin, but curvy, have perfectly tone skin, long hair and perfectly arched eyebrows; and these ideal beauty standards are formed by the media. Women are always shown what we are supposed to look like, instead of embracing who we are. If the media started embracing natural beauty in the media, I feel as if women would feel more confident about themselves.

Due to the fact that we remember 50% of information by hearing or seeing, the importance of body image comes into effect because younger generations are greatly influenced by the music that they are hearing, the music lyrics that they are reading, and the music videos that they are viewing. Media is one of the most important agents of socialization. Therefore, we have to be conscious about the messages that we are sending to women because they are already objectified by the music industry and they more susceptible to feeling underrepresented by the media, suffer from low self-esteems, and body dissatisfaction. |

I chose women and body image in the workplace because what we have realized is sadly the way one looks especially a woman has a huge impact in the workplace. Depending on how a woman looks and acts can cause problems, a woman is being flirtatious or trying to get in with the boss so she dresses "sexy" is not always the case. Can a woman just be happy within herself and shows it?, unfortunately not in our world today. |
